Karin- Voice Lesson/VRH
In my voice lesson this week we focused on choosing repertoire for my senior recital. We discussed how we wanted to program my recital and decided to go with a theme. The theme we are thinking of implementing is "identity". We looked at the criteria for last year's senior recitals, and chose three songs in the musical theatre genre, classical genre, and contemporary art song genre. We still need to decide on two more classical songs, preferably in French. I did not do any singing this lesson as the time was taken deciding repertoire.
In Vocal Recital Hour, I loved Grace Weaver's performance. I especially noticed that her posture was excellent. Her shoulders were back, her chin was parallel to the ground, and she was grounded in her feet even while wearing heels. This good singing posture helped with her support, everything was lined up and thus her sound was clear and pure. In practicing this posture, I know she is building stronger myelin around those circuits to help build the skills she needs to be an excellent vocalist.
